This was made for Dave. It went through a lot of changes. At first, I was going to use fabric that I had picked up on sale, some linen for the robe, and some medium weight linen for the tunic. It got put on hold for a while due to difficulties finding boots in Dave's size, but when we got back to it again, he decided he wanted to splurge and buy wool for the robe, and base it on an image of Luke as a force ghost from the Legacy comics. The belt he is wearing is his Luke Bespin holster, but I'm in the process of making a generic old republic style belt, and another belt like Luke's from the cover of the Legacy comic.

We decided to loosely base it on this image of Luke from the cover of the Legacy comic. We didn't have time before we went away for me to make a new belt, but I'll be making two new belts soon, once I can get some leather. We made do with the belt from the Luke Bespin holster.

The undertunic is a false collar and false sleeves over a bonds t-shirt. It overlaps at the front with velcro, much like Luke's shirt in Return of the Jedi. The fabric is a dark brown linen-look cotton. The overtunic / tabards / obi are linen. The pants have a zip fly and are made of cotton homespun. The boots are the only option we had at such short notice - the el cheapo nasty costume boots from a seller from eBay that everyone says not to buy. Despite bad reviews, they've held up quite well so far. They are the only boots, other than custom ones that fit Dave, as he's a size 12 US. They work okay for now, but I think down the track, he'll get some specially made. The robe is wool - the only wool we could find quickly was a bit too heavy, but despite being a pain to work with, it does drape and flow very nicely. It's just very heavy!

He loves wearing this. I loved making it! Next to fix up will be making a couple of belts, and then he'll probably get some new boots. I might make a standard undertunic at some stage too, just for some variety. We've already got energy capsules and pouches for the belt.

If I can get some crinkle fabric, I might make a crinkle tunic / tabards / obi.

3 April 2006
I bought some fabric for the under and overtunic.

March 2006
I picked up some linen/cotton blend fabric from Lincraft for only $4.50 a metre!
