In preparation for the release of 'Revenge of the Sith', I made a Jedi outfit for myself.

16 September 2006

I went out today to a really nice park and took some photos with a gorgeous backdrop.

3 December 2005

I took some photos of my belt. Photos while I'm wearing it never seem to do it justice.

26 November 2005
My local Fan Force participated in the Norwood Christmas Pageant today. It was the debut of my new wool robe, and I love it!

30 October 2005
I wore my jedi costume at Supanova in Sydney, and since then, I have been making plans to slowly improve parts of my costume. Last week I managed to get my hands on some lovely wool fabric for only $12 a metre, instead of over $30 a metre. Best bargain ever.

Today I went to a country show (Callington) with some friends from SAFF and the 501st, and I had a few photos taken. DD lent me one of the new stunt sabers he's made, as he hasn't finished making my new stunt saber yet.

I've also ordered some rivets to make a new belt, I'm just hunting for a buckle.

I finished my jedi robe today. I made it out of raw silk. It's lovely and lightweight, and it flows very nicely behind me when I walk. I might make another set of robes out of wool at some stage, if I can find some that I'm happy with. It's surprisingly difficult to find suitable wool fabric here that isn't amazingly expensive.

24 September 2005
I started making the robe to go over the top months ago, but I didn't get it finished in time for episode 3. I put it aside, and pulled it out a couple of weeks ago. I got the hem nice and even, and I'm really happy with it. I've attached the hood. All I need to do now is finish off the edge.

18 September 2005
I found some more stone fabric in my stash, and some lighter brown cotton / linen blend, so I was thinking of making another couple of pairs of pants, so that I can have more than one pair of pants to choose from.

12 September 2005
I made some updates to my jedi costume. I made a new undertunic and a new pair of pants, both in a dark brown linen-look cotton. I'm also going to fix up the overtunic, so that it's less bulky around the waist.

21 May 2005
Well, it's all finished, well mostly anyway. I'm going to work on improving a few bits and pieces, but for the most part, it's all done, and was done in time for the midnight screening on Wednesday night. I only have one okay photo at the moment, but I will take some more soon.

15 May 2005
My beloved finished my lightsaber today. I've only got one pic at the moment, and it doesn't show the details very well, but I really wanted to share a pic finally. I've nearly finished the rest of my costume. I'll have it done tomorrow, but probably won't have pics of me wearing it all until Thursday, after I get home from seeing ep 3.

10 May 2005
I finally got some more work done on my jedi costume, and now I have pics! I've been working on it slowly for the last couple of months. My lightsaber is nearly finished too. I've completed my pants, and my tunics are pretty much done. I only need to fix up the sleeves of the overtunic.

My belt is a little bit more complicated. I bought some vegetable tanned leather in two widths, 15mm & 65mm. Thankfully, I don’t need much of it. I already have some suitable rivets and a buckle, and I have a few leather working tools. Since I got vegetable tanned leather, I will need to dye the leather myself. I have brown dye and a sealer. It shouldn’t take long to put together.

26 March 2005
Today I did some more work on my pants. I have been working on a mock up that I can use for a few different pants. I wanted something fitted, and I used McCalls 2940 as a base. They are really baggy pants, so I had to take them in a lot. I've only got to hem them and finish off the waistband.

25 February 2005
I've decided to use the washed homespun for my pants, since I found some great linen at DK's city store for $10 a metre. I also managed to find some off white crinkle cotton for my undertunic.

26 January 2005
I made some progress on the mock up of my tunic, but no photos as yet. The pattern that I am using is McCalls 2940. I've also been doing some research on how others have made their own lightsabers.

22 January 2005
On the sale table at my local Spotlight store, I found a nice fabric called 'washed homespun'. It's a natural shade and is very soft but with a slightly rough look to it, much like raw silk. Since it's 150cm wide, and $3 a metre, I thought that would get some for my Jedi costume. If I make it, and it doesn't look right then I'll make it again out of something else.

I bought my boots back in September 2004. I saw them in Betts, and I thought that they were too perfect to let go, so I put a pair on lay-by. I also told my friend about them, so now we both have the same boots.
