I made a Ranger costume back in 1998, and wore it to BOBW 3 and BOBW 4. I've always wanted to re-make it. I promised myself that if I re-made it, that I would do things a little differently. So, I'm going to make the Ranger One version of it. The only difference appears to be the robe that goes over the top. I'll document my progress as I go.

Two
weeks ago, I changed my mind and decided to make the Ivanova version of Ranger
One robes.
Mine turned out like this:
I even had a professional photo taken with Claudia:

I had this project on hold for quite a while. I had planned to make
it for an event in 2005, but I wasn't able to go to it. However, this year,
the guild is doing a fashion parade at a local sci-fi con where they will have
a Babylon 5 guest - Claudia Christian, which means that I have the perfect excuse
to make it.
I have a black pair of linen pants that I made for my dark jedi costume, and plan to wear with this one, so at least I don't have to make new pants. I found an even better fabric for my shirt than I already had, which has a slight stretch to it. I started working on the shirt a couple of months ago, but I'm not happy with the fit, so I'll need to fiddle around with it some more.
I still plan to use the same fabric for the tunic that I had set aside, and I found some interesting fabric which I think will work well for the robe.
I bought some cotton tape to do the black details on the sleeves of the shirt, and the edges of the tunic. I still have to get some fabric to line the robe.
Below is a pic of all my fabrics together.

I took a photo
of the fabric for my shirt, and my tunic. The colour doesn't show up very accurately
in the photo though unfortunately.

Today
I bought 1.5 metres of a brown cotton/linen blend from my local Spotlight store
for the tunic. I've already got some brown fabric in a herringbone weave for
the shirt. Next on my list is to buy some black cotton tape for the trimmings,
and do get back to studying all the layers in more detail. It's been years since
I've looked at this costume in serious detail, and thankfully the dvds are far
easier to pause than my old video tapes! I saw some surprisingly nice printed
cotton in the quilting section of Lincraft that might actually work well for
the robes. If I can't find a suitable fabric, I will either re-make a robe in
the Ranger style or I will go without the robe.
